If you encounter errors when running Backup & Recovery (B&R), the issue may stem from incorrect database or Salesforce connection settings. Below are common causes and how to resolve them.

### Database Connection Errors

If the database connection details provided during setup are incorrect, B&R will fail to run.

**Steps to resolve:**

- Verify that the values in your `application.properties` file follow the correct format for your database type.
- Test the database connection outside of B&R (e.g., with a database client or command-line tool) to confirm it works independently.
- Pay close attention to formatting requirements, especially when connecting to **Oracle** databases.

> ℹ️ Always copy exact connection string formats from official documentation to reduce risk of typos or invalid syntax.

### In-App Database Connection Setup

When setting up connections within the B&R product interface, ensure:

- All required fields are completed.
- The database host, port, name, username, and password are correct.
- Credentials have the necessary permissions to read/write data.

### Salesforce Connection Errors

If the Salesforce connection fails:

- Confirm you're using a **valid API token** and **Connection URL**.
- Ensure the Salesforce user account has the correct permissions to access metadata and data for backups.
- Double-check the connection type selected (e.g., Production, Sandbox) matches the credentials used.
