Backup and Recovery gives you the flexibility to run backups **manually** or **automatically**, depending on your workflow and data protection needs.

## :flag_off:** Automated vs Manual Backups**

You can choose between running backups on demand or setting up a schedule to automate them.

### **Manual Backups**

Manual backups are ideal if you:

- Prefer to run backups at your convenience
- Don’t need frequent backups
- Want more direct control over what and when you back up

### ⚙️** How to run a manual backup:**

1. In your **Backup and Recovery Details**, locate your backup job.
2. Click the **hamburger menu** (three lines) next to the backup name.
3. Select **Run Backup**.
4. The backup will run immediately.

You can run a manual backup at any time.

### **Automated Backups**

Automated backups are recommended if you:

- Want regular backups without manual effort
- Prefer peace of mind knowing backups run on a schedule
- Need to meet compliance or internal data policies

### ⚙️**  How to set up an automated backup:**

1. In the **Schedule** section, enter the scheduling details that suit your backup frequency.
2. Click **Schedule +**.
3. Make sure the **Backup** checkbox is selected.
4. Click **Add** to finalize the schedule.

Once scheduled, backups run automatically based on the frequency you define - no manual action required.

> ℹ️ Many users combine both methods - scheduling regular automated backups while also running manual backups before major data changes.
