With **Backup and Recovery**, your data stays secure. The product uses **Jasypt**, a simple yet powerful encryption library for complex data. You can encrypt any value in `application.properties` — or supply encrypted values as command line arguments.

---

### ✅ **How to Encrypt Data with Jasypt**

**1️⃣ Run the Encryption Command**
Use this command to encrypt your sensitive value:

```
bash
```

CopyEdit

`jasypt encrypt input="your_password" password="Sesame2!3" algorithm=PBEWITHHMACSHA512ANDAES_256 `

You’ll get an encrypted output, for example:

```
ini
```

CopyEdit

`abcDEF1234567890== `

---

**2️⃣ Add the Encrypted Value to Your Properties**
 Wrap the output with `ENC()` in your `application.properties` file:

```
properties
```

CopyEdit

`spring.datasource.hikari.password=ENC(abcDEF1234567890==) `

---

**3️⃣ Supported Locations**
 You can use encrypted values in:

- System properties
- Environment variables
- Command line arguments
- `application.properties`
- `.yaml` files
- Custom property sources

---

### 🖥️ **Examples**

**Linux:**

```
bash
```

CopyEdit

`$ ./encrypt.sh input="This is my message to be encrypted" password=MYPAS_WORD verbose=false uv9+BnQFuZbfTV5Kf45oBOr0eJzBW5AS+XaYY+Lu5XWYhGgl0Ee41P0QUGpIrfyD `

**Windows PowerShell:**

```
powershell
```

CopyEdit

`$ ./encrypt.bat input="This is my message to be encrypted" password=MYPAS_WORD verbose=false HdeO84ByjjpDk6IkR8mcVuoYZAKAI3RtX6mbk5j1UmNo6ayFaY3+LYf9WKhWE7s/ `

---

> ℹ️ Adjust the `password` parameter to your own secure value.
