After completing the initial setup of Sesame Software’s Backup & Recovery application, it’s important to confirm that your connection to both Salesforce and your destination database is active and functioning as expected. This ensures data can be backed up and restored without interruption.

### **🔹** Step 1: Launch the Application

Open your local instance of the Backup & Recovery application in your browser (typically at `http://localhost:8080` unless otherwise configured). Log in with your administrator credentials.

### **🔹** Step 2: Navigate to the Connections Page

From the main dashboard:

- Go to **Settings**
- Select the **Connections** tab
- You should see both your **Salesforce** and **Database** connection entries listed

### **🔹** Step 3: Test Salesforce Connection

1. Locate the Salesforce connection in the list.
2. Click the **Test** button next to it.
3. A success message will confirm that the authentication and API handshake were successful.

> ℹ️ If the test fails, double-check your Salesforce credentials, API token, and user permissions. You may also need to verify IP whitelist settings in Salesforce.

### **🔹** Step 4: Test Database Connection

1. Locate the target database connection.
2. Click the **Test** button.
3. A confirmation message will indicate that the application can communicate with your database.

> ℹ️ If you receive an error, ensure the host, port, database name, and credentials are correct. Also, confirm the database server is reachable from your local machine.

### **🔹** Step 5: Confirm Access via Logs

You can also check connection success by viewing the application logs:

- Navigate to the **Logs** tab or directory
- Look for entries that confirm:
  - “Salesforce connection established.”
  - “Database connection successful.”

These log messages typically appear shortly after application startup or after a connection test is run.
