Running a recovery test is a best practice to confirm that your backup and restore process works as expected — and to ensure you can confidently restore data when needed.

> 🗒️ **Note:** Before you run a recovery test, make sure you have already completed at least one backup.

### 🔑 **Key Concept**

Each recovery request focuses on **one top-level object** — the main object that was deleted or needs to be recovered. Any related child objects are included automatically when you select them during the recovery setup.

For example:  
✅ *Correct:* Recover the **Account** and include its related **Contacts** as children.  
❌ *Incorrect:* Create separate recovery requests for the **Account** and its **Contacts**.

## 🆕 **Steps to Run a New Recovery Test:**

1. **Click** **New Recovery +**
2. **Select** your desired **Date** option to choose the restore point.
3. **Select** the **Top-Level Object** you want to recover.
4. **(Optional)** Use **Last Modified By** to narrow down results if needed.
5. **Click** **Next**
6. **Select** the records to recover.
7. **Click** **Recover**
8. **Verify** the records you selected, then **click Next**
9. **Select** any **Child Objects** to include in the recovery.
10. **Click** **Start Recovery**
